Winner - 'Team Building Event of the Year' C&IT Awards (19th September 2014)

darkstar Events UK are delighted to announce that we were crowned 'Team Building Event of the Year' at the annual Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) Excellence Awards 2014 held at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London on the 19th September for our 'First Gear' Team Building Event.

The World Cup 2014 is nearly upon us and Rio Carnival Theme Parties are all the rage! darkstar Props New Dedicated Website (9th January 2014)

After much speculation and demand, and with a rather bulging warehouse full of interesting items we are pleased to announce that we have lanuched a dedicated website for our theme props and audio visual stock - all now available as individual hire items to other event companies in the industry!

Whether it be suits of medieval armour, giant flowers, thrones, Santa's Grotto or life size (well almost!) Easter Island Statues we have it all, check it out soon!

darkstar Events UK Event Awards Highly Commended AGAIN! (6th October 2013)

We are pleased to announce that we were awarded the Highly Commended prize for the second year running at the national Event Awards 2013 final at the Camden Roundhouse on Friday 4th October for our 'Race to the Summit' event - we are honoured to be the only event company recognised with this honour for two consecutive years in the "Team Building Event of the Year" category.

After their resounding success in the 2012 Event Awards, Darkstar Events UK are incredibly proud to announce that they have been shortlisted for “Teambuilding Event of the Year” for the second year running at the prestigious national Event Awards.

darkstar Corporation Has Moved! (7th January 2013)

Happy New Year!

With an exciting and event-filled year ahead, darkstar Corporation has moved it's entire operations to a new location.

After a period of sustained growth, achievement and excellence across all our operations we rapidly outgrew our former location. After much searching we found our new perfect home in Twyford, Berkshire in a series of beautiful converted barns featuring their very own reclaimed clock tower and bells - an idyllic location to focus on some exciting new projects for 2013!

(28th May 2012)

With a handful of awards and prizes already under her belt, darkstar Photographic's principal photographer Angela Phillips is competing in the 2013 Wedding Industry Awards, the only independent, national awards voted for solely by past clients. With votes for darkstar Photographic already starting to add up from the delighted clients that have had their weddings covered by Angela this year, darkstar Photographic look forward to the announcement of the regional and national finalists later this year.

Hot on the heels of being announced as a runner up in Lonely Planet's World Food Photography Competition, darkstar Photographic are pleased to announce that Angela Phillips has been declared the winner of the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Photography Competition with her image taking pride of place in the June edition of this popular magazine. I am sure that you will join us all in congratulating Angela on this remarkable achievement and wish her all the best – yet another feather in her cap!!

darkstar Photographic & Lonely Planet (28th May 2012)

Capture the City - as competition hots up for Lonely Planet's "Capture the City" Competition, a contest seeking remarkable images to take pride of place on the front over of their world-renowned city guides, darkstar Photographic's chief photographer Angela Phillips has had her image identified as one of the hot favourites, one of only 5 images picked from a field of over 1,000 entries. Lonely Planet editors mocked up the image which has the potential to become the new front cover for the 2012 edition of the Venice guide. This is an enormous honour and we wish Angela the best of luck as the competition draws to a closer later in the month.

darkstar Photographic are proud to have been shortlisted in not one but two prestigious international photographic competitions this month.

At the beginning of the month Lonely Planet shortlisted darkstar Photographic as a runner-up in their World Food Photography Competition, beating over 900 international entries from across the globe.

This success was subsequently followed by a special commendation from the panel of judges for Intrepid Travel's Annual Travel Photography Competition, a prestigious award that has been running since 2005 and attracts entrants from around the world.

darkstar Events UK Appoints Official Charity (31st August 2011)

darkstar Events UK are pleased to announce the appointment of our official charity for 2011/2012 - Mary's Meals!

Mary's Meals currently feed over 500,000 underprivileged children every day throughout the world from Albania to Malawi and their ongoing Backpack Project is just one of their worthy initiatives which darkstar Events UK are proud to support.

Why Mary's Meals Backpack Project? Most of the children who benefit from Mary’s Meals and the Backpack Project have suffered war, poverty, famine, or natural disaster. Very often families cannot afford to buy basic items like pencils and copy books, or even suitable clothes for their children to wear to school. As a result, these children miss out on school and an education. A simple backpack with educational materials can be a lifeline to these children as studies show that an education is the best way a chronically poor child can escape poverty in later life.

darkstar Events UK Carbon Footprint Offset (21st July 2011)

As part of darkstar Events UK's commitment to provide Carbon Neutral Events we have just completed our calculations for the first half of the year (1st Jan to 30th Jun 2011), totalling 11.67 tonnes of CO2 (rounded up to 12 tonnes) which darkstar Events UK has opted to offset through a Kenyan Reforestation project in the Great Rift Valley.

darkstar Events UK is proud to support local communities in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya. Through this new tree planting programme we will help:

- Offset CO2 emissions
- Reduce poverty
- Provide wildlife habitats
- Create a brighter future for project team members including orphans and people living with HIV / AIDS

darkstar Events UK partner Carbon Footprint Ltd have received endorsement from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for our reforestation efforts in The Great Rift Valley. All trees pledged and planted by Carbon Footprint / ESCONET are being included in the Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, which aims to plant over 1 billion trees across the globe to help avert damaging and economically debilitating climate change.

darkstar Photographic & Windsor Festival 2011 (16th May 2011)

Hot on the heels of exhibiting at the recent Windsor Photographic Society Exhibition, darkstar Photographic is pleased to annouce that we have been selected to be the official photographers at the annual Windsor Festival from September to October 2011.

The Windsor Festival is a pretigious event with music groups, choral and orchestral musicians, talks by notable politicians and pundits (past visitors include Clive James & Ann Widdecombe), theatre productions and walks.

Her Majesty The Queen has graciously consented to the Festival holding events in Windsor Castle, the Royal Chapel, Windsor Great Park and other prestigious locations around the Windsor and Eton area and, needless to say, we are thrilled to be given such a unique opportunity.

darkstar Events UK Goes to the Edinburgh Marathon (16th May 2011)

darkstar Events UK will be represented at this year's Edinburgh Marathon on the 22nd May 2011 by Operations Director Ewan Gibson.

Over 30,000 runners are expected to complete the 26.2 mile run from central Edinbugh to Musselburgh on the coast so if you are in Edinburgh be sure to keep an eye out for Ewan on his run and give him a cheer!

Dare we say it? Spring appears to have arrived and winter is heading south which can only mean one thing - Summer is on it's way! And at darkstar Events UK we already have our shorts and suntan lotion at the ready as we prepare to take you 'Glamping' in the great outdoors.

'Glamping' or Glamorous-Camping is set to be all the rage this summer as it turns the once-gruelling camping experience into something of a luxury with full size mattresses, delicious food and even your own duvet. No more camping stoves and sleeping bags for us!

We have a whole host of exciting new 'Glamping' options available from Traditional Tipi's, to hand-crafted Mongolian Yurts and rustic Camping Barns coupled with days activities in Canadian Kayaks and gourmet Cooking Programmes conducted from the comfort of your 'tent'!

Did you catch the prestigious British Music Awards 'The Brits' live from the O2 Arena this week? Organisers of this year's awards were notably patriotic as a nod to the forthcoming Royal Wedding of William and Kate with Union Jack Flags and Bunting, classic Routemaster Buses and Celebrity Face Masks of the Royals supplied by darkstar Costumes! darkstar Costumes were naturally honoured to be asked to provide a Royal selection of celebrity face masks from their range of over 80 different masks to the fans and celebrities who attended the awards ceremony!

darkstar Events UK Completes 2010 Carbon Footprint Offset (10th January 2011)

As part of darkstar Events UK's commitment to provide Carbon Neutral Events we are working in partnership with Carbon Footprint Ltd - an ISO 14001 accredited multi award-winning Carbon Management Consultancy, experts in carbon management and carbon reduction. Using the calculation tools provided by Carbon Footprint Ltd, darkstar Events UK has been able to track and calculate the Carbon Footprint of all events provided for clients since the initiation of this project in July 2010.

The results for 2010 are in, totalling 7.1 tonnes of CO2 (generously rounded up to 8 tonnes) which darkstar Events UK has opted to offset through UK Tree Planting Projects (as recommended by Carbon Footprint Ltd in association with Tree Appeal). All trees are planted in reserves and managed woodland where they will live their natural lifespan with a view to meeting their biodiversity targets.

For our first offset we have opted for the tree planting to take place in the South East of England using the local knowledge and expertise of tree planting partners Tree Appeal to ensure that the right trees are planted in the appropriate places. Future offsets will take place throughout the UK and abroad.

darkstar Events UK are excited to have completed their very first Carbon Offset and would like to take the opportunity to thank all of their clients for their support on this project, they can rest assured that their event held with darkstar Events UK is Carbon Neutral in partnership with Carbon Footprint Ltd.

It may be snowing outside and chaos on the roads, but it seems that some people just cannot get enough of the winter! darkstar Events UK has been busy rolling out their Winter Wonderland theme party at venues all across the UK this festive season - the good news is that we haven't brought the cold indoors with us, but have instead transformed venues and offices into a warm and inviting Winter Wonderland. From snow covered trees to twinkling fairy lights, you can enjoy all the excitement and elegance of winter without having to wear your hat and scarf!

darkstar Events UK's  'Thriller' Workshop has finally arrived and is the ultimate conference breakout/energiser session that delegates will never forget. Imagine 200 delegates singing and dancing in time, giving them a huge sense of oneness and achievement. An ability to sing and dance is not required, just a huge team effort (and a little sprinkling of humour!). In addition to singing and dancing like zombies we can even add in a make-up and costume session to complete the look (and we might just throw in a photographer too to capture that moment forever!).

Have you ever stopped to look at a glossy magazine photograph or billboard advertisement and wondered where that fantastic image came from? We are here to let you in on a secret...companies don't send a member of staff or a photographer on a plane to travel thousands of miles just to take that shot. Rather, these images are bought from companies such as iStock - the web's original source of stock images for designers, advertisers and just about anyone who needs a perfect shot.

We are pleased to announce that a selection of darkstar Photographic images are now listed on iStock (any photographer will tell you that this is no mean feat as every photograph must be approved by a panel of scrutinising judges) - many of which have already been purchased and used for various communicative applications. At darkstar Corporation we are pretty excited about the prospect that some day soon that glossy magazine photograph or billboard advertisement might just be featuring our photographs.

darkstar Photographic Featured in Cotswold Life Magazine (10th November 2010)

Be sure to pick up a copy of Cotswold Life Magazine in January 2011 as it will be featuring Director and chief photographer Angela Phillips of darkstar Photographic. Following on from her success at being part of the world's largest photobook (see article below) she has been approached by Cotswold Life magazine to be part of a feature article entitled 'Winter'.

darkstar Photographic & Bookzilla Come to Town (21st October 2010)

The 15th October saw the official unveiling of Bookzilla, PhotoBox's record breaking attempt at the world's largest photo book at the Old Truman Brewery Gallery in London as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations. The unveiling was attended by many of the photographers who took the pictures featured in the book, including darkstar Photographic. Over 30,000 photographs were submitted as part of the 'Around the World in 80 Days' Photography Competition of which only 300 were selected by photography experts including Annabel Williams and Manfred Baumanto to be featured in this behemoth, record breaking book.

Photographer and Director Angela Phillips commented:

darkstar Photographic Wins Award (27th September 2010)

Back in July PhotoBox launched its 'Around the World in 80 Days' photography Competition to mark its 10th Anniversary, inviting photographers throughout the UK to enter photographs taken from all four corners of the globe. An overwhelming 30,000 photographs were entered and judged by photography experts including Annabel Williams (world class portraiture and wedding photographer) and Manfred Bauman (international celebrity photographer). After much deliberation the judges narrowed down the entries to just 100 from each of the six continents, of which darkstar Photographic was short-listed to represent Europe (see picture left). Short-listed photographs will now form part of a World Record Breaking Attempt for the largest Photographic Book, measuring a staggering 6m high x 4m wide (20ftx13ft) and will be on public display at the Old Truman Brewery Gallery, London from the 15th October 2010.
