The World Cup this summer will have an additional, global spotlight illuminating it, not because of the anticipated action on-field, but as a result of where the tournament will be hosted.
The twenty-third instalment of arguably the biggest sporting tournament in the world, will see its matches split between North America, Canada and Mexico. This in itself is an unprecedented change to the format, which began in 1930. However, it is more the looming presence of a certain President that is likely be the focus of the headlines.
Why this World Cup is different
From a footballing perspective, this tournament is the largest ever, and not just because of the trio of host nations. With a total of forty-eight teams participating – the most ever – it means more matches, and therefore more opportunities to get together and experience the buzz that only a summer international tournament generates.
There is, however, also the added spanner in the works of time difference, which is an unfortunate by-product of a tournament being hosted so far from these shores. However, it is not as antisocial as was first feared on learning the identity of the aforementioned host nations. In fact, the slightly later kick-off times lend themselves perfectly to that favoured football activity; the group watch-along!

Why choose Darkstar Events?
The outdoor crowds celebrating that all important goal on the big screen has become an iconic part of any tournament; a prominent and instantly recognisable visual on TV and social media that fans live for. Nothing beats being there, together, watching it happen live… and not having to fork out the highly publicised fortune for a ticket to the match itself.
Enter that most beloved behemoth of a balmy summer’s night… the big screen!

The brilliance of the Bellingham bicycle-kick, the suffering of the Saka and Sancho penalties, every moment is amplified by sharing it with a crowd of like-minded, passionate supporters. Even the neutral becomes a diehard, fully invested superfan under the lights of the big screen.
Our outdoor LED Screen has the ability to be fully branded, and at 3.5m x 2m, it is certainly big enough to accommodate large crowds in an outdoor setting, or smaller crowds indoors. Either way, with it you have the ability to create those moments that people will remember for a lifetime. Even though many of us were too young to remember it, we all know that iconic footage from the 1966 World Cup. Well, if the experts, analysts and pundits are to be believed, the 2026 World Cup could very well give us moments to rival those, and we all want to be a part of it.
The tears, the cheers and the spilt beers only come once every four years, so who needs to spend a few thousand pounds on a ticket, when you can go BIG…
